Born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1996, I come from a working-class family background. My formative years were spent in the natural surroundings of Alabama. Following high school, I embarked on a journey…working at a local McDonald’s and eventually helping manage the store. Simultaneously, I captained a community college Scholar’s Bowl Team and founded an e-sports organization.
I pursued my academic interests as an undergraduate and later as a graduate student, majoring in English. My focus areas included environmental writing, disability studies, and transpacific literature. As a graduate teaching assistant, I garnered acclaim with my contribution to disability studies in a paper titled “The Accommodation System is Hell: An Argument for UDL.” Additionally, I established myself as a published writer with my thesis, “Connecting Bridges: a Critical Disability Reading of A Silent Voice.”
After graduating, my dedication to conservation drove me to join Coosa Riverkeeper as a grant writer, aiming to safeguard local waterways in my home state.
